I moved into my new place on the 1st and 25 days later... THE INTERNET. Oh my word, finally. I've been without my computer for nearly a month! I was dying.
More later, I just wanted to update and say hello to the world out there. I have to go to work and all that boring stuff. Ew!
Plus it's raining outside and I have to walk. It's been raining since I woke up *sigh!*

I have started a sewing project! However, it's not for me. It's for my friend Chelsea who is a model in Japan, it's a Lolita style dress. It's based off a dress from Angelic Pretty. You can see the dress here.
It's going really well, I'm not using a pattern so at first I was kind of like "great, what did I get myself into!" AND I'm sewing for someone else but the great this is that the shape of the dress is really simple and Chelsea and I have almost the exact same measurements.
I have a couple of really crappy webcam pictures but I'll wait for better pictures before I post them here. So far I almost have the little apron done and I'm working on the bodice detail. It's really cute.

I tried to knit last night, but in this weather it felt horrible. I think I'll hold off on the knitting until I move and then I'll actually have use for the things I knit and knitting won't feel so gross because it won't be 90 degrees.
In other news, I need to start thinking about which harry potter costume I want to wear to the movie. Ahaha, I know it doesn't come out until November 21st but COME ON. Plus I'll be in Boston for the premier so I really have to rock this costume out. Hopefully Annie will be able to come visit and we'll see it together. I think I'm going to go Slytherin, and maybe make a Ravenclaw costume for Annie to wear.
Oh my gosh, I can wear my scarf too! Because it will actually be cold! It won't be 80 degrees! I'm way too excited about this.

I haven't been doing anything in the way of sewing or anything lately.. but on saturday my friend Chelsea is going to meet me at the fabric store and we're going to go crazy. I've also been thinking of sitting my ass down and watching all my favourite costume movies.. I have so much fabric sitting around, I need to find something to do with it!
Maybe I'll go knit.

So, I haven't done anything even close to crafting lately because work has been making me tired, and Kingdom Hearts has taken up all my spare time but I seem to have almost a week off of work and I'm on the last level of Kingdom Hearts so maybe I'll get some knitting done. Just in time for summer, right? :-p

I thought I'd show off the 18th century stays I made for my friend. It's made from scrap fabric, plastic zip ties, and love :-p Oh! And the worst grommets in the entire world. It's not completely finished yet, as you can see the tabs haven't been bound yet.

So... One of my dear kitties puked all over a pair of stays I was working on for my friend. Great. Thankfully I use plastic boning so I was able to wash it but since it's so thick it's taking FOREVER to dry. I have it laid out on the dining room table right now. I figured putting it in the washer/dryer was a bad idea so I hand washed it.
In other news, I made a mock up of those new Simplicity stays. They're pretty nice! I've been meaning to take pictures but I haven't gotten there yet.

Hey! So, it's not like I've been doing NOTHING, I just haven't been posting it. I made curtains for my moms house, and I made a dress. It's not even a costume, it's a modern every day kinda dress. It's so out of the norm that I get a little nervous when I look at it ^_^
Curtains:
 The curtains ARE GIANT. They're huge, lined with blackout fabric, and they have giant plastic grommets instead of a rod pocket. Do you know how heavy these suckers are? Heavy. ( One more picture under here )I don't have pictures of the whole dress yet, just the fabric.  I've taken this dress apart at least three whole times but I just can't get it to fit completely right. I'm calling it done now, but the straps start trying to fall off and expose my bra straps/bra (awkward!) when I move around. I really have no idea what to do about it. I'll post pictures later and a couple ideas I thought of, maybe one of you out there will be able to help me out? It's such a cute dress, but I don't think I'll wear it if the shoulders keep sliding off.

Okay.. why have I never seen Pride and Prejudice before? WHERE HAVE I BEEN? I've only watched the first disc (stupid block buster online sending the discs one by one) and I want to sew EVERYTHING. It's so pretty, I don't think I can wait for the next disc to come in the mail, I need it now so I can watch it while I sew.... I guess I could also use some fabric, too.
P.S. Why is Colin Firth so cute?

HELLO WORLD. Apparently I've dropped off the face of the sewing earth. Did you see Simplicitys new 18th century dress pattern? Uhm... why do they do these things to me? I can't afford to make a dress >_<
OH MY GOODNESS, MY STAYS. I still haven't taken a decent picture. I'll tell you why, it's still about a MILLION DEGREES outside (mid 80's, actually) and wearing my stays is like stepping into a sauna, even just for a couple of minutes. But it's supposedly going to start getting cooler on the weekend, so I will try to take pictures on sunday or monday.
I also really want to knit, knitting in easy and cheap. I can't decide what to do though, something simple. I'll have to search around for patterns and ideas.

© All rights reserved.Yay! Actual progress on my stays! The binding is all done and I only have a handful of eyelets to finish sewing. Gosh, I hate hand bound eyelets. But yay for historical accuracy! I'm so excited for stays that fit nicely, my old ones were just too big :-( In other news, I started a new blog. You can find it right here! There's nothing very interesting in there yet, just random things. I'm also working on a little skinny scarf, I'm going on a little trip to colder weather soon and I need all the warmth I can get! I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish it in time, but it gives me something to do. I love just sitting in front of tv and knitting, it's very calming. Wee!

So, I've made SOME progress on my stays. Just more binding, which isn't turning out GREAT, but it's turning out better than my last pair. But it's all hand sewing at this point, my fingers are getting tired!

I think I'll try to work on them some more now... or maybe just play the sims :-p Speaking of which, having a mac really sucks because I have to wait SO LONG for the sims games. Bon Voyage is already out for PC, but Aspyr doesn't even say they're working on it.
